A/Prof Peter J Papantoniou is an Australian trained Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon. He was born and raised in Sydney and still lives here with his family.

On finishing school, he obtained his medical degree from the University of NSW and then went on to Orthopaedic training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery (FRACS (Orth)) and then went on to obtain a Fellowship of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA).

A/Prof Papantoniou has extensive experience in Knee and Spine surgery, which are the main focuses of his practice.

He has spent many years treating Workers Compensation patients as well as private patients.

In 2014, A/Prof Papantoniou began a Juris Doctor Law degree (JD) to assist him in helping his Workers Compensation patients.

Having completed his Juris Doctor, he went on to further study and finished his Masters of Laws degree (LLM).

A/Prof Papantoniou also undertakes medico-legal consultations and reports.

He has taught medical students and Registrars since 1989.

A/Prof Papantoniou was first appointed Associate Professor of Surgery at Sydney University in 2010.

In 2007, he developed a pain relief technique for spine surgery; in 2012, this was published in a book on the Local Infiltration technique. (See more).

He continues to undertake ongoing training and surgical visits to Germany, the UK, and the USA.

He continues to treat his Workers Compensation patients as well as private patients.
